NGA X PATRICIA PICCININI

Patricia Piccinini is one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists. Best known for her sculptures rendered in silicone and hair, her work explores humanity's relationship to technology and the environment. We collaborated with the National Gallery of Australia and Studio Ongarato to design and produce a range of merchandise featuring Piccinini's famous Skywhale and Skywhale Papa. ⁠

Two children’s bucket hats were designed featuring an detailed embroidery of the Skywhale and Skywhalepapa. The repeat patterns were designed taking inspiration from illustrations in her book Every Heart Sings. The pattern was achieved as a⁠ one colour screen print onto a coloured canvas.

Featuring the Skywhale hovering over Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle the 1000pc puzzle comes with a reusable canvas zipper pouch to house the puzzle pieces.

The activity book features colouring pages and sticker sheet featuring spreads adapted from Piccinini’s Every Heart Sings children’s book. Produced with three coloured Colorplan covers with full spread gold foil.
